Making
Of ...
- the RAIN-Cover
-
Design:FRIEDEL MUDERS
In designing the cover the considerations were the "loneliness" described in the song’s vocal, and appropriately illustrating the title. The realization was limited to one day due to an "executive level" decision.
Through coincidence, there were photos of Sandra on hand that were actually only test shots. So, these pictures had to be "bent" in the Macintosh to fit the mood of the song. We also had some reference points in mind. There is a famous photo of JAMES DEAN, the so-called "Walking Shot" by photographer Roy Schatt, which Helnwein also translated into a drawing. So now, the individual steps to the making of the cover:

Retouch of the car to create free space, reflection of the photo to get Sandra’s perspective and coloration for the atmosphere. |

After much finishing work and attention
to details, like rain, retouching the hair, etc., Sandra now walks full of "melancholy"
through the - RAIN!![]() |
