"Pretty In Scarlet" is the second single taken from our third album "Walking On A Thin Line".
And it is a ballad, of course – as is always the case with our second single. We simply belive in it, and a lot of you tell us again and again that they like our ballads very much and that Sandra’s voice always shows very special facets of our music.

Sandra recorded the song in the Hamburg based Home Studios together with Artemis. The boys had already prepared the instrument tracks, and they both worked the whole night through and finished the song apart from the mix – and the next morning, everyone was surprised and totally excited – because it’s just this track that shows much of what was lauded by critics when they listened to the album for the first time – a "mature" band ;-) - ho , ho ...

The following days, some essential passages of the ballad were changed during the mixes and the whole song got a new treatment so that it would work live on stage as well as in the studio. Originally, Sandra’s backing vocals had "fat" choirs which gave the song a touch of soul. As this is not possible live on stage we rearranged a few parts, and in the end, it was one of the first tracks of the album that had been finished in quite a short time. When it was first performed in public, journalists patted us on the back.

Even Sandra’s songwriting in the lyrics has improved very much. They are sort of "sly". At the end of the song, for example, some lines taken from older Guano Apes tracks are cited and completely integrated in "Pretty In Scarlet".
