Every
"artwork" has its own story. This is also the case for LIVING
IN A LIE. Friedel, our designer, started thinking about different
associations regarding the title as he always used to do during
the brainstroming phase. There was a design with a "forged"
game of chance, then the house of cards collapsing "like a lie"
and different motifs taken by our photographer Dirk Schelpmeier from
which we liked best the blurred motif of Sandra.
But
when we were looking through the vast amount of video material for
LIVING IN A LIE, we came across a motif which Sandra had "unintentionally"
made famous by wearing her T-shirt in the video for BIG IN JAPAN,
the "red" cross or red X respectively. And
which we now noticed constantly in the videos taken from our live
gigs. It was pure coincidence and almost like "our"
sign. Therefore we opted for using it as a cover motif.
And
we dont want to withhold the explanation for that from you,
for its just simple: the instruments and speakers marked
with sticky tape show the roadies and the crew where the things are
to be placed in the truck later on. For there has to be an excellent
organisation behing fixing up and taking down all the things we are
carrying with us when were on the road. And so, this labelling
with the association of the BIG IN JAPAN video is now immortalized
on LIVING IN A LIE.
